Greetings everybody.
Glad to see you're all putting plenty of thought in to the 50th Box Set track listing. Do keep your suggestions coming and don't feel restricted to just one submission.
Whilst you're thinking of favourite, rare or obscure tracks, however, you may wish to direct your thoughts elsewhere and come up with a question for Monty Montgomery.
That's right, following the success of recent Q&A sessions with Don Letts and Ranking Miss P, we've managed to persuade the Pyramids/Symarip man to tackle your questions.
I'm sure there will be plenty of questions you'd like to ask Monty and frankly the more the merrier, so remember to spread the word about this. Trojan will be releasing a 25-track compilation of Symarip's finest moments entitled 'Skinhead Moonstomp: The Best Of' on 26th January and a reunion tour is also in the pipeline.
Please submit your questions via email to info@trojanrecords.com, using the subject heading A QUESTION FOR MONTY. Remember to include your full name and address because, as with past Q&A sessions, we will be entering the names of all those that submit a question into a prize draw. This time to win a copy of 'Skinhead Moonstomp: The Best Of' that has been signed by Monty himself.
So, get thinking and start sending us those questions. You've got until Friday 17th January.

| I see that Symarip were backing on Millie Small's album Time Will Tell, did you write any of the songs on the album, and did you ever tour with Millie |

I am really pleased Monty has put himself in the hot seat.
I would like to ask what actually happened to Symarip in the end?
Such a talented bunch, been thru so much hard times got the respect they definetly deserved, it all went flat?
Monty on a personal note (OK so all the Trojan Forum people are reading this) Thank you for brightening up my growing days and giving the people good times which we all know was needed, and always will be) Merci....Danke... or Just Thank You. Respect. _________________ How you feeling, hope your feeling fine....

JPP.
There were four main Reggae session bands in the late 1960s London ....
~ White Soul outfit, The Mohawks, taught to play Reggae by Derrick Morgan.
~ The Hot Rod All Stars aka The Cimarons
~ The Pyramids aka Symarip aka The Rough Riders aka Seven letters aka Little Grants & Eddie, etc, etc
~ The Rudies which became Greyhound.
So, Monty wasn't ever in Greyhound.

Can I presume charlie, that the session bands you mention:
a) contained a mix of the same musicians and
b) were the backbone of the Brother Dan Allstars and others like Joe's Allstars? _________________ In love or in sympathy with someone. Having a party fun or fête then rush for a Halagala record.

Yes Charlie, Thank you.
I know, I did not realise I wrote Greyhound
I am very embarrassed apologises to Monty what can I say
I have edited my post so may be he will not realise I made such a silly mistake. (please lets say no more), I will promise not to post when I have had more than a couple of pints and and when I am singing "Moon River".
I am now going to put on "Train to Rainbow City" and try and forget this _________________ How you feeling, hope your feeling fine.... |

...were you singing the Danny Williams version of "Moon River" or the Greyhound version, JPP?? - it's quite important to get this right - different key, different rhythm, different tempo - get it wrong and your whole day could be buggered up!!! _________________ In love or in sympathy with someone. Danny Williams Version I haven't heard that for a long time it was my Dad's favourtite version.
My Favourite version was the best singalong version GREYHOUND's, I still love that version best even nowadays.
I heard on Desert Island Discs recently, can't remember who the guest was but they wanted Audrey Hepburn's version from "Breakfast at Tiffany's" after hearing it I reckoned the bloke really wanted Audrey Hepburn on the Desert Island not her singing or should I say trying to sing "Moon River" I suppose you can't blame him for that can you _________________ How you feeling, hope your feeling fine.... |

Hi Monty
Are you by any chance related to the former British/Commonwealth Super Bantamweight Boxing Champion - Michael Alldis? You look very alike. He also has a brother called John who is about to make his debut as a professional boxer next month although I think he has his mothers good looks. Great photo by the way, good luck with the CD.

Hi Lt. Ritchie
Do you know what's happened to the Symarip Artist Of The Month feature. Since Max Romeo is now holding the honour as March's AOM I thought I'd find it in the archive but it's not there
