How do i put a tune on here , I have some great ones , but aint got a clue how to get them on here Embarrassed

This is what I do

1. I record the vinyl at the stereo using a CD-Recorder (if you have a USB turntable, it's easier since you connect this directly to the PC)

2. I upload the recorded track on the CD to my PC using some freeware I've had for about 4 years (DMC Audio Input) - I might title the tune in this software (better than the default "Track 01" "Track 02" etc.)

3. I log in to my putfile account.

It's free to register at www.putfile.com

4. I select the "Upload Video, Audio or Flash" option and <Browse> for the file that I just uploaded onto the PC.

5. I might give it a putfile "Title" and may give it a category.

6. The <Upload> option is down near the end of the page.

7. While the file is uploading, don't disturb the page.

8. When it's uploaded, a URL will appear (as will "BB" and "HTML" addresses - you can ignore these) - select the <Copy> button to the right - I just have and pasted the Bluesbusters example below...

...simple-ish.. any more Qs, just ask.

Of course, if the tune is already on a CD, you can skip the "record from vinyl" bit...

Thanks Zappatoo , I'll give it a go , if I'm successful you'll know by the boss tunes that start to come on forums share a tune , if not I'll be back on to you moaning like a little girl , oh zappoo i cant get it to work , what do i do now

I probably should have added that you need to mark the link text next to it and select the <Copy> buttopn, Bossof69 - then paste it into the topic/reple Wink

I haven't used Putfile in about 6 months, Jim.

I remember that links expired after a while - either after a fixed period (6 months?) or a period since a tune was accessed (6 months?)

I definitely didn't put a link to "Ebaum's World" - I got the same Rolling Eyes

zap , i know i iz a computer numpty , i can get the stuff into me laptop - but how does it get from there to trojan forum ?

i also did the 'putfile' connection - to get ?????????world

Personnally I use 4shared.com

You create an account, it's free, your files stays there as long as you connect to your account once per month.

You upload your files there, then you copy the links and paste them in the forum.
I didn't read the help notes of 4shared because everything is obvious to me but I think it would be easy for everyone.

I use box.net, which sounds similar (if not identical) to that which mx uses.

box.net is easy to use, Brian, once you've registered.

There's an <Upload> button , plus you can create folders to lump together Reggae, Soul or whatever you wnat.

Once you've uploaded, the "share" option is easy to spot - then just copy and paste the link into a topic.
